Was es abdeckt

A discount card for Deutsche Bahn long-distance and regional rail travel in Germany. BahnCard 25 gives 25 percent off flexible and discounted long-distance fares. BahnCard 50 gives 50 percent off flexible fares and 25 percent off discounted fares. BahnCard 100 replaces a ticket entirely, allowing unlimited travel on DB long-distance and regional trains in Germany for the validity period, and the official page states it now includes a complimentary Deutschland-Ticket for local transport.

Wer es kaufen kann

Open to the general public. Deutsche Bahn also sells discounted junior variants ("My BahnCard", under 27) for BahnCard 25, 50 and 100 at reduced prices; standard adult pricing applies otherwise. No residency restriction stated on the page checked.

Wie lange es gilt

Each BahnCard is sold as a 1-year card (with automatic renewal unless cancelled), and DB also offers a 3-month trial version of BahnCard 25 and BahnCard 50 at a reduced price.

Standard listed prices at time of checking (2026): BahnCard 25 from 62.90 EUR (2nd class) / 125.00 EUR (1st class) per year; BahnCard 50 from 244.00 EUR (2nd class) per year (1st class price not shown on the overview page); BahnCard 100 from 4,899 EUR (2nd class) / 7,999 EUR (1st class) per year, with a reduced "My BahnCard 100" (under 27) price of 3,199 EUR (2nd class) / 5,999 EUR (1st class). The page also showed a time-limited promotional price for BahnCard 25 valid only during September 2026, which is not a stable figure and is excluded above.

Sitzplatzreservierungen

Seat reservations on long-distance trains remain separate and are not included in the discount cards; DB sells them as an optional add-on regardless of BahnCard tier.

Woran Leute scheitern

Cards auto-renew annually unless cancelled in time, so a cancellation deadline applies. BahnCard 25/50 discounts exclude certain fare types (e.g. City-Ticket is excluded from the BahnCard 25 discount per the page). Prices are subject to periodic promotional changes, so the standard price and any advertised promo price can differ significantly; travellers should check the current page before assuming a promo price applies.
