About Orlero

Orlero compares trains, coaches, flights and ferries for the same journey, and shows the total price including every fee from the first screen. This page says who publishes it, where the numbers come from, and how to reach a person.
What this is
Most journeys can be made more than one way, and the comparison that matters is rarely the one a single operator can show you. A train that is slower than a flight door to door is not slower once you count getting to the airport twice. A coach that costs a third as much is worth knowing about even when you go on to book the train.
So the unit here is the corridor rather than the carrier: one origin, one destination, and every mode that runs between them, ranked on door-to-door time and total price rather than on time in the vehicle and a headline fare.
Where the numbers come from
Places, coordinates, operators, which operator serves which pair, and every distance are real, and they come from open data with the sources listed on the credits page.
Schedules, seat counts and fares are generated by our own model until the supplier contracts are signed. We would rather say that on every page than let a modelled number pass for a filed one, and the methodology page sets out exactly which figures are which and how each is computed.
Nothing on a route page is written about a route. Every section states a measurement, and a section whose measurement is missing does not render at all rather than rendering an apology.
How we are paid
For some journeys we sell the ticket and you pay us. For others we compare and then hand you to the operator or retailer who sells it, and some of those handoffs earn us a commission. The terms set out which of the two is happening on any given journey, and the button on the page names who you are being sent to before you go.
A commission never changes an ordering. The rankings on this site are computed from price, duration and emissions, and there is no paid placement anywhere on it.
