The early bird gains less hereThe median fare is lowest 30 days out at €52.71 against €117.33 the day before, a spread of 55 per cent. That is a real saving, but it is a smaller one than on the other modes, so a coach is the mode to hold a decision open on.
Midweek still winsTuesday is the cheapest day on our coach network, Thursday the dearest, 32 per cent apart. Weekend demand moves coach fares the same way it moves everything else.

Across the 20 corridors where both run, a coach seat emits about a 14.6 th of what the same journey by Flight emits.

Every row is a median over the same corridors, priced on the same day, for one adult with no discount card. Door to door adds the time we budget to reach and leave the terminal at each end, which is where the scheduled time and the real time part company.

Door to door is close to the timetableWe add 22 minutes at each end for reaching and leaving the coach station. A coach loses very little time to the ground you cannot see on the timetable, which is why its slower schedule closes some of the gap.
Stops are not always stationsAcross the 3,612 cities here, a coach stop can be a bay on a street rather than a building with a departure board. Check the stop name on the ticket the night before, not on the morning.
Luggage rules differ by companyThe 720 companies on this network set their own hold allowance. It is generous by air standards and it is not identical, so read it once for the operator you have picked.

Is a coach always cheaper than the train?

Usually but not always. The comparison table on this page prices both on the same corridors on the same day, and on a few of them an advance rail fare undercuts the coach.

How early should I book a coach?

About 30 days ahead, where the median fare is lowest. Booking later costs about 55 per cent more, which is a smaller penalty than the other modes carry.

How many coach routes can I book here?
