The building stands five-stories tall (plus basement). The roof has a concrete balustrade and a flagpole. There are two narrow balconies visible, one on the corner (center), and one on the right side of the building above the large arched Spring Street entrance. The streets are bustling with pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Horse drawn carriages and streetcars can be seen on the streets. The bell tower of Saint Vibiana's Cathedral can be seen at left. Legible signs include: "the El[...], Sig[...], rooms", "J.F. McEl[...], printer[s]", "First National Bank", "California railway", "Santa Fe", "Freight and Ticket Office", "200", "Vernon", "Equitable Life Assurance Society", "Fred A. Hines, A.P. Chipron, general agent, Douglas E. Poole, cashier", "Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., incorporated by the state of New York, district office", "W.I. Hollingsworth & Co.", "real estate loans", "John T. Griffith Company", "real estate insurance, rentals, loans", "Dr. Cowles, chief medical examiner", "Germa[n] Bu[ilding]", "Union [...]efining", "Douglas, Lacey & Co.", "law offices of R. Wilson", "Doctor Solomon, eyes, ears, nose, and throat", "808, H. Jevne Co." The Wilcox Building was designed by the San Francisco firm of Pissis & Moore, with a Classical Revival facade of grey sandstone. Completed in 1896. The Bryson Block and Hollenbeck Hotel were "more flamboyant neighbors." After extensive damage during the Sylmar Earthquake in 1971, its upper four stories were demolished, leaving only the basement and the unrecognizable stripped facade of the ground floor. Sailings you can sleep on
An overnight crossing arrives on a later calendar day than it left. On a long route it replaces a hotel, which is why the cabin fare and the deck fare are so far apart.
How this is built
Every row comes from one snapshot of an operator-published schedule, taken on a named date. Nothing is modelled, averaged or filled in.
Fares are in euro, in the minor units the source returned, and are the prices the operator was charging for the date shown. Where two classes collapse onto one word the cheaper of the two is kept.
Every figure here is the euro amount the operator published. Where your display currency is not the euro the page converts it at a fixed rate with a stated margin, the same way the rest of the site does; the API and the CSV always return the euro minor units.
A vessel name is printed only where the source gave one that differs from the company name. Roughly a third of the rows repeat the operator in the vessel field.
Sea areas and islands are our editorial grouping of the ports in this snapshot, not an official geography. Every port belongs to exactly one sea area, so browsing the areas reaches all of them.
A ferry timetable is the most irregular in transport: three sailings a week in April, twelve a day in August, and nothing at all on a Tuesday in November. Read every date here as the date it says.

title="Ferry Finder by Orlero"></iframe>The API
The same answers as JSON, for anyone building on top of this. No key, no sign-up.
Parameters are the ones in the page address: from, to, region, island, operator and overnight. Add format=csv for a flat table.
Rate limited to 60 requests a minute per address. Over that it answers 429 with a Retry-After header.
The response shape is stable. Fields are added, never renamed or removed, and every response carries the snapshot date it came from.
The data is CC BY 4.0. Use it, sell work built on it, and credit Orlero with a link.
