Dabakhane means the place where leather is tanned. This name was probably given because this mosque was located in the vicinity of Kelleçi Stream, where leather tanneries used to be. According to the inscription it is dated to the Selim II period, 1568. Although the person who made it is not known, it is thought that it was built by Behram Pasha. It has a shaded courtyard with sycamore trees. There is an architectural structure called Mükebbire on the entrance door. This structure is built so the imam is to be heard in the courtyard. It is the only example of such a feature among Urfa mosques. Its minaret has 7 floors and is adorned with ornaments. On the pictures one sees more than only the mosque, seen from several sides, but also a nearby fountain and an underpass next to the mosque. At the mosque there also is a tomb or türbe.
